Checking it Twice....

SHOPPING LESSON(S) FOR THE DAY....

Lesson #1 - Shopping anticipation can be hazardous.

Lesson #2 - Always anticipate which shoes will be most comfortable for a long shopping trip.

Lesson #3 - If you are over 50 with memory problems, Do NOT, I repeat...DO NOT try one of each shoe on to see which feels best.

Lesson #4 - Don't assume the couple of people taking a second look at your feet is because the black & orange flip flops you have on don't match your sweater. There could be another reason they are looking.

Lesson #5 - When trying on clothes at the second shopping mall today, and you step out of your jeans, try to laugh a little bit quieter when you realize this is the pair of shoes you've been walking around in ALL day long!!!

Cyber Monday - Is it really a good deal?

So here we are.  Cyber Monday is upon us.  All the advertising, all the hype, all people secretly surfing at work...I really don't see that many super-duper good deals (other than all the free shipping offers).

So wow (sarcasm dripping here... -->), Old Navy and GAP are a whole 30% off.  (I've seen that sale before, haven't you?).  While Lane Bryant has 50% off  --- there's still a minimum of $75 before you get that discount.  Macy's has a whole 15% extra off.  Whoop!  Woman Within is 30% off your first item with a $50 minimum.  Yeah baby.  Whoop again.  Even the Avenue, who has 50% off the entire website --- well, that's really a great sale but they've had that all 4 days of this weekend!!! (I know because I've been shopping it and hopefully got my sizes before they went out of stock with you cyber Monday shoppers!

Here's a good example of why it's good to do the math when a cyber Monday sale sounds really great:

Jessica London's cyber Monday sale is:

Take 50% off your highest item, take 50% off your 2nd item when you buy 3, take 50% off your 3rd item when you buy 5...

So let's say you buy the 5 items. (Remember, you are required to buy 5 items in order to get only 3 of them 50% off.) I'll use numbers that are fairly easy to split for addition purposes.

Item #1 is a heavy sweater. $50 - 50% = $25
Item #2 is another sweater. $40 - 50% = $20
Item #3 is a poplin shirt. $36 - 50% = $18
Item #4 is a silky shirt. $28 no discount = $28
Item #5 is a turtleneck $20 no discount = $20
Regular price total $174. With discount = $111 = only a 36% discount!!!

It's a whopping 36% discount. Whoopee! Now while that's a nice healthy sale, it's not what I would consider a GREAT INCREDIBLE deal worthy of what cyber Monday is supposed to be. What do you think?

OMG I found a FABULOUS deal --- possibly the best one I've ever seen!  AND IT'S ON CURTAINS!

*******$1.59 per panel********

On the OneStopPlus.com website:

---Go to the "Outlet" tab,
---Click on "Home" as the category
---Browse through the curtains!

I bought "grape" faux suede grommet curtains for $1.59 a panel!!!  Yes, that's right....I said $1.59!!!  They are $1.99 a panel (still an amazing price) and 84" long. By adding the OSPTHANKYOU coupon code when you check out, it will take 20% off your order.

I received my curtains today and they are very nice!

I tried copying a picture off the website to show you, but I think the picture copying is blocked.  But here are two that are similiar in style or color (mine don't have tiebacks).  The darker purple shows you the style I bought, and the lighter purple shows you the color.

Designer Online Sales!

While this post is a little late to take advantage of the sale, I'm posting anyway because I am DELIGHTED that Kate Spade has an online sale --- just like Coach Factory does!

After a long day and evening at work, I trudged a mile home in the snow (hehe), hand cranked my computer on, and grudgingly logged onto Facebook, only to see a post from Retailmenot.com about this Kate Spade one-day-only sale.  Who knew!!!  Here's the bag I'm eyeballing but unfortunately cannot afford at this time! (But I'm still just excited that this sale exists!)

The only thing that would make my shopping life more complete would be a Dooney & Bourke online sale!!!  Sigh...I can't afford this one either right now either!

Double the Style!

Tonight I ordered a second black cotton dress I already own.  I'm feeling slightly guilty, mostly because I charged it.  But here's the deal; I already have it and LOVE it.  I can see myself wearing it for YEARS to come.  The style is somewhat timeless, and frankly even if it wasn't, I'm too old to really give a damn!  While wearing it casually on the weekends I found myself incessantly worrying about getting stains on it.  So, tonight when I saw that not only did Lane Bryant have it back in stock again (it's been completely sold out for awhile), but LB also had buy one item, get one item free....well...I bought it again!  Plus for that BOGO sale, I added a cotton maxi dress that's an ombre blue striped print that I'll use for summers lounging around the house too!

Color

This is one of the tops I am anxiously awaiting!  I liked the colors, so many colors of the rainbow!  I'm hoping the belt can be tied semi-empire so it will slim me out and the loose material will hide the...ummm....rolls!  Now what kind of jewelry would I wear with this?

Macy's Tip!!!

I have a Macy's credit card that I'm trying not to use....so I used a Mastercard instead (I know, I know, that doesn't make alot of sense, a credit card is a credit card)!  However, despite my obviously flawed thinking.... you know those Macy's Star Rewards Passes that you receive in the mail that usually state something like "$25 off your $100 purchase" or "20% off your purchase any day you choose" --- and in small print it says "with your Macy's Credit Card."  HA!  It just worked with my Mastercard!!!   So I got $363 worth of items with some majorly good quality brands, for $108.75!!!  I am such a happy shopaholic now!!!  <--Dangerous!

Cashmere Blend Socks!

I recently bought these cashmere blend socks.  Okay, it was actually shortly after the New Year.  I loved the idea of cashmere socks --- blended or not!  I've never really had anything like them in the way of socks before.  They have that kind of luxurious cashmere feel yet slightly wool feeling.  Soft...with a little rough twist.  Very warm.  I only paid slightly less than $5 for two pairs.  So for less than $10 (I bought two packs of two) I have 4 new pairs of cashmere blend socks!!!  Avenue.com....although they're probably gone now.  Hmm.  Sorry!

My Happy Bedroom!

I don't usually write about my decor in my house, but I finally accumulated the last painting to complete my wall (the picture of the two ladies), and I have to tell you that I just love my bedroom!  I've often thought that instead of this drafty old house, I'd like to live in a nice, modern studio apartment.  All I would need is just my bedroom, similiar to how it is now (cozy!) and of course a bathroom and a very small kitchen.  I'd actually LOVE a small studio!  Hmm, maybe a loft like one?  I used to like the old-fashioned romantic, slightly country and victorian style but over the last year or two, my style has changed to a slightly happier, more modern style --- in a way.  Anyhoo, this is a picture of the wall of paintings over my bed.  You can see it's a mix of several different types.  To me it's bright and cheerful, yet somehow pleasantly soothing at the same time.  I LOVE MY BEDROOM!

P.S. Excuse the unmade bed --- I should have at least arranged the pillows!

Sales

If ever there was a time for shopping, it's now.  If ever there was a time I wished I had money, it's now.  I'm not usually a huge Kate Spade fan.  Most of their purses are designed for a smaller, shorter woman.  Their shoulder straps are generally too small to fit on my plus size padding.  A friend of mine said the short shoulder straps are generally so shorter women can carry them in their hand also, but without it being too close to the ground for them.  But I like my bags on my shoulders!

At any rate, Kate Spade has an additional 25% off their sale items through 1/10/12.  So of course, I was perusing their sale, despite having absolutely no money to spend.  Check out these really unusual clutches at KateSpade.com!
Fabulous little clutches eh?!
